What is an NIL club?

In high school rules, an NIL club is a group of students, or a group organized around a school's team, that solicits money from fans, members or others to pay or benefit student-athletes for NIL, and several associations ban them.

Arizona's and Georgia's rules bar students from being members of, or receiving anything from, a collective or NIL club, while exempting school-supervised booster clubs that support the whole team. New Jersey's 2026 FAQ says students may not take part in an NIL club based on their school or team affiliation.
