What does it mean when NIL Go does not clear a deal?
A not cleared deal is a third-party NIL deal that the College Sports Commission found does not meet the rules, because of associated status, the amount of pay or the lack of a valid business purpose.

The athlete then has three options: revise the deal with the sponsor and resubmit it, cancel it and refund any money already received, or appeal to neutral arbitration within 14 days. Going ahead with a not cleared deal can cost eligibility. NIL Go can also flag a deal for additional review before deciding. Through August 31, 2026, the commission reported 2,296 deals worth $156.93 million not cleared since NIL Go launched.
