NIL glossary
What is an associated entity in NIL?
An associated entity is a business or group that exists, in significant part, to support a particular school's athletics program or athletes, or to create NIL opportunities only for that school's athletes, as well as any group that has helped recruit or retain athletes for the school.

In detail
The definition, from the House settlement rules, covers most NIL collectives, and also any entity owned, controlled or operated by an associated entity or individual (other than a publicly traded corporation, although a public company can still be found associated if it meets the definition). Deals with associated entities get the fullest review in NIL Go: they must have a valid business purpose and pay within a reasonable range of compensation.
An associated entity is not the same as a booster, though one can be both.
